Today @ PC World MPAA Enjoys Record Box Office Year in 2007

With all the claims of piracy in the movie industry, you would think the MPAA would be able to back up its accusations with some evidence. A quick look at the MPAA's home page shows that a majority of the space is spent on addressing movie piracy. However, the MPAA's recently released "Theatrical Market Statistics 2007" tells a different story.

Yeah, but the RIAA peaked in 1999 too...

Norwegian Police Deal Massive Blow to MPAA Lawyer | TorrentFreak

Today, Norway appears to be a much safer country for petty file sharers. The Hollywood lawyer Espen Tøndel has been told by Kripos (serious crime police) that they will not be spending time investigating small-time pirates.

TorrentSpy Loses Case Against MPAA | TorrentFreak

A Los Angeles court decided against TorrentSpy in their ongoing legal battle with the MPAA and terminated their case. According to the ruling, TorrentSpy was sanctioned for destructing evidence.

Police Extend OiNK’s Bail Date and Returns Servers, Wiped! | TorrentFreak

P2P researchers: use a blocklist or you will be tracked... 100 of the time

The takeaway here is simple: P2P users who don't utilize the blocklists are just about guaranteed to be tracked by "fake users"

MPAA Sues Two Video Sites

The MPAA has filed a lawsuit against two web sites that it claims are distributing pirated films. Cinematube.net and SSUpload are the two sites named, and a quick look at both reveals a plethora of recent movies, including Transformers and the latest Harry Potter film.
