Yahoo China lost another round in a legal battle as a court in Beijing upheld a ruling that the company is infringing on copyright laws by allowing pirated music to be downloaded, according to the industry group suing Yahoo China.

Deals: Fox to allow DVD copying on Apple's iTunes

Also in Apple's movie rental deal yesterday with Fox: Apple will license its FairPlay copy-protection technology to the studio for DVD movie releases. This will allow DVD purchasers to easily -- and legally -- copy movies to their computers for playback on iPods and iPhones.

Wait a second, when did Fox become kind of cool?

As a solution, the government has pledged to allocate 160 billion won for the publishing industry by 2011. It also plans to establish a publishing information center to offer necessary data to the public as well as the industry.

While it is clear that Apple has been working on methods to combat piracy, it remains to be seen how far Apple will employ the methods in its software.
