The OiNK Fallout: Should Its Ex-Users Be Watching Their Backs?

They should be very, very scared. There are at least two reasons why this is not just your average, everyday, run-of-the-mill file sharing copyright infringement: this involves music that has not yet been commercially released, and money changed hands.

This could get very ugly, very fast.

IMSLP Closed Down

However, after lengthy discussions with very knowledgeable lawyers and supporters, I became painfully aware of the fact that I, a normal college student, has neither the energy nor the money necessary to deal with this issue in any other way than to agree with the cease and desist, and take down the entire site. I cannot apologize enough to all IMSLP contributors, who have done so much for IMSLP in the last two years.

Robert Tur copyright case dismissed as he requested, over YouTube’s opposition « The Utube Blog

Tur decided to have his case dismissed to join one of the class action suits in New York. That way, Tur won’t have to pay legal fees himself, but can free ride on the work of the attorneys already in the case.

What, a judge decided to let a case get off his desk? Say it isn't so...
